Young Woman with Lemon

I've been intrigued with primitive/ naive portraits ever since I found paintings by naive artists as a teenager hunting through bookstores. So "Young Woman with Lemon" is a perfect opportunity to explore my intrigue! Painted today, 8 by 10 inch oil on canvas. Thanks for stopping by!!! : )

very sour... it's nice how her eyes mimic the shape of the lemon. Very mysterious.

Intruige is the right word... I love the sense of hidden meaning / symbolism. The lemon looks to be near the heart... bitterness/lost love/depression maybe...? Hope it isn't a self portrait :) I also love the lino cuts. Enjoyed the jackel story.

PS. many thanks for your generous comment on my blog, very much apprecited.

It reminds me of the German Expressionists, I love their work! It all looks like there is a story behind it. Wonderfully painted!
