Threading an Elephant through the Eye of a Needle
The inspiration for my humble linocut is a wonderful story from the Vedas: One day Narada visited a cobbler. Now the cobbler was deeply devoted to the worship of Vishnu, the lord of creation. To the amazement of the cobbler, Narada mentioned he had just returned from a visit to Vishnu. The cobbler asked excitedly, "What was he doing?" Narada replied, "He was threading an elephant through the eye of a needle." The cobbler then picked up a seed and exclaimed, "Oh, that's not surprising! Inside this seed is an enormous tree, ready to come out at the right time. So of course He was threading an elephant through the eye of a needle!"
